Salve Health Care

Home care in Burnaby

Burnaby is a city of two scales: the high-rise communities near Metrotown and SkyTrain, and the quieter streets up the Mountain. Salve has been working both since 2011, with the trained, BCCPA-member care families know us for.

What Burnaby families ask us about most

Three patterns come up a lot in Burnaby: respite for adult children working long days at SFU or BCIT; dementia care in the Metrotown high-rises where the elevators and the long hallways become part of the daily plan; and the first weeks home after a stay at Burnaby Hospital.

Coming home from Burnaby Hospital

The first weeks after a Burnaby Hospital stay are where most of our Burnaby work begins. We take the discharge plan literally: medications on schedule, wounds checked, mobility practised in the actual hallway your parent will be walking. In the Metrotown and Brentwood towers, that includes the building itself (elevators, fobs, the distance from the parkade) so the caregiver arrives ready rather than learning the building on day one.

How Burnaby families pay for it

Publicly funded home support in Burnaby runs through Fraser Health, and the allotted hours often aren't enough on their own. Families top up with private care: Salve covers the mornings, the overnights, or the weekend the public schedule leaves open. Caregiver-led visits run $41–$45 an hour, we direct-bill VAC and ICBC, with CSIL you pay us directly from your funding, and we provide itemized receipts for extended health plans.
