Nanaimo is Salve's Vancouver Island foothold, served under intermunicipal license. From Downtown to North Nanaimo, Departure Bay to South Nanaimo, our Island team brings the same trained, insured, BC HCP-licensed care across the water.
On the Island, Nanaimo calls cluster around the first weeks home from Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH), ongoing personal care for parents aging in place, and overnight care for spouses who need uninterrupted sleep.
Nanaimo Regional General serves a big stretch of the mid-Island, so coming home from NRGH can mean Departure Bay or it can mean Cedar. Our Island team covers that range under the same BC HCP license as the mainland operation: discharge plan followed, medications managed, wounds checked, the first careful weeks made workable. Families on the mainland coordinating a parent's care in Nanaimo do it through the same single phone number and get the same visit notes.
On the Island, public home support is arranged through Island Health, and the blending logic is the same as anywhere we work: their hours plus ours where the day needs more. Rates don't change across the water: caregiver-led visits are $41–$45 an hour, RN-led clinical visits $75. We direct-bill VAC and ICBC, with CSIL you pay us directly from your funding, and we provide itemized receipts for extended health plans.

Common questions from Nanaimo families.
Is the Nanaimo service the same as the mainland one?
Same license, same training, same rates, same standards, delivered by our Island team. Nanaimo is served under Salve's intermunicipal BC HCP license, not a partner or a franchise.
I live in Vancouver; my mother is in Nanaimo. How does that work?
More easily than you'd think. You call the same number, we handle scheduling locally, and you get notes after visits without crossing on the ferry. Plenty of our Island arrangements are run by mainland family.
Do you reach Lantzville and Cedar?
Yes: coverage runs from Lantzville in the north through Downtown and Departure Bay to South Nanaimo, Chase River, and Cedar.
