Vancouver is the city where Salve started, in 2011. From the West End to East Van to Marpole, our caregivers know the routes, the parking, and the weather. The same trained, BCCPA-member care reaches every block.
What we hear most from Vancouver: a parent home from VGH or St. Paul's needing wound care and medication management; dementia at home that's outgrown what one spouse can hold; and adult children who can't take three more weeks off work but can't leave Mom on her own either.
Vancouver discharges come with a plan written for someone who'll be there to follow it. We pick that up: the medication schedule, the wound care, the follow-up appointments back at the hospital. Many families call us while their loved one is still on the ward, so the caregiver is at the apartment or the house before the taxi is. Elevators, visitor parking, narrow Kitsilano staircases — our caregivers have worked this city since 2011 and none of it slows the visit down.
Public home support in Vancouver is arranged through Vancouver Coastal Health, and many of our families blend it with private care: the health authority covers what it covers, and Salve fills the hours around it. We bill $41–$45 an hour for caregiver-led visits and direct-bill VAC and ICBC; with CSIL you pay us directly from your funding. For extended health plans, we provide itemized receipts your plan can reimburse.

Common questions from Vancouver families.
How quickly can care start in Vancouver?
Usually within a few days, and for hospital discharges often the day your loved one comes home. Vancouver is our home city; it's where scheduling has the most depth. Call while the hospital stay is still underway and we'll plan around the discharge date.
Do you work with the discharge team at VGH or St. Paul's?
Yes. We work from the discharge summary and your family doctor's orders, and we'll speak with the hospital's social worker or community-care nurse where that helps. The 15-minute call is where we walk through the plan together.
Can you handle apartment and condo buildings downtown?
Every day. Concierge sign-ins, elevator bookings for equipment, visitor parking that doesn't exist: all of it is part of the route. Tell us the building and we'll sort the logistics before the first visit.
