Nanaimo families coming home from Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) usually need the same thing the first week: someone to follow the discharge plan when family can't be there all day. Who it's for
Families whose loved one is coming home after surgery, a hospital stay, or a fall. With registered nurses on the team and a BC HCP license, we cover both the personal-care and the clinical sides of recovery: wound care, infusions, medication management, the lot.
Hours and schedule
Most families start with daily visits in the first week, then taper. Four-hour minimum per visit. Days, evenings, overnights, or 24-hour care depending on what the recovery calls for.

Recovery, Island-side.
NRGH serves a wide stretch of the mid-Island, and its discharges go home to everything from a Brechin Hill apartment to a Cedar acreage. Our Island team runs the recoveries the same way the mainland operation does: daily visits through the fragile first weeks, medications and wounds managed, mobility rebuilt on the plan's schedule, notes written for the follow-up. For mainland family coordinating from across the water, the notes arrive the same evening the visit happens.

How quickly can the Island team start?
Usually within days, and for NRGH discharges, calling during the stay lets us aim for the day of discharge itself. The 15-minute call works the same from either side of the Strait.
Who do mainland family actually deal with?
The same single number as everyone else. Scheduling and care happen locally in Nanaimo; the coordination, notes, and billing all run through the same Salve operation families deal with on the mainland.
