Salve Health Care

Post-hospital recovery in Burnaby

Burnaby families coming home from Burnaby Hospital usually need the same thing the first week: someone to follow the discharge plan when family can't be there all day. Salve covers that across Metrotown and Highgate, Brentwood and Willingdon Heights, Lougheed and Government Road, and the rest of Burnaby.

What's included.

Who it's for

Families whose loved one is coming home after surgery, a hospital stay, or a fall. With registered nurses on the team and a BC HCP license, we cover both the personal-care and the clinical sides of recovery: wound care, infusions, medication management, the lot.

Hours and schedule

Most families start with daily visits in the first week, then taper. Four-hour minimum per visit. Days, evenings, overnights, or 24-hour care depending on what the recovery calls for.

The first weeks, up and down the towers.

Burnaby Hospital sends people home to a particular kind of housing stock: towers at Metrotown and Brentwood, post-war houses on Capitol Hill with the bedroom upstairs. Recovery planning starts with that geography (where the bed should live for a month, how the elevator trip works with a walker) and then runs the standard discipline: medications on time, wounds monitored, notes written for the follow-up. Families calling from the ward get the smoothest version; the caregiver is there for the homecoming.
